Southern Maryland Standoff With Barricaded Person Resolved, Sheriff Says

There will be an increased police presence in a St. Mary's County neighborhood on Thursday as the sheriff's office continues to investigate following a barricade situation, officials say.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Aug. 8, deputies were called to the Columbia Commons neighborhood on Creeping Primrose Lane in Lexington Park, where there were reports of shots fired, according to Capt. Sarah Smith.

Deputies remained at the scene until approximately 11 a.m., when the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office declared that the standoff reached its conclusion.

No injuries were reported.

Details about the incident have not been released by the sheriff's office.

According to investigators, deputies will remain at the scene as they continue to investigate the shots fired.
